Mini All4 Racing's Polish driver Krzysztof Hołowczyc has crashed in the dune area around km 40 of the special. He was immediately assisted by the rescue team and seems to have hurt his ribs and back.

Stephane Peterhansel finished as a leader after two stages. But there was a problem with GPS navigation at that 75th km for many of the crews. The checkpoint was not catched by the devices on the cars. So Carlos Sainz managed to prove the Sporting Stewards that was not the crew’s mistake. So his result was improved with 20 minutes off - for the time he lost while looking for the point. So now Carlos Sainz is leading!

Just now the real Dakar starts! Intransigent and maybe even ruthless. This and next day stages are likely to become the keys to the alignment of forces. The second stage with 242 km of special is mostly dry and soft sand. These dunes yet last year got on racers’ nerves and stay abiding the character…

So it all has begun... During the next two weeks the main point of attention for everyone in the world of autosport will be first of all here - at the South-American adventure named Dakar. And the first Dakar 2013 hero becomes... Carlos Sainz! Despite all his complaints for his buggie's motor overheat he is 8 seconds faster than Lucio Álvares (#306) and 10 seconds faster than his team mate Nasser Al-Attiyah (#300).

The final countdown to the start of the Dakar 2013 marathon has started. The greatest rally-raid event on the planet begins on January 5th. Its route will go through 3 of the biggest Hispanic countries in the world: Peru, Chile and Argentina. This year the track's direction will be inverted compared to the previous edition: Dakar'13 will start from Lima, the capital of Peru, the city where the race concluded last year. It means that from the very first days of competition its participants will be facing all the difficulties of deserts. The event will finish in Santiago, the capital of Chile.

A new car will make its first appearance at the Russian and international race tracks in 2013. This is the new project by G-Force Motorsport – a rally-raid concept developed under the T1 regulations. The working title of the new vehicle is G-Force Proto Mk 2, however it is not an evolution of its predecessor, but a completely new design, prepared in accordance with the FIA technical requirements for 2012-2013.
